How Do You Know It's Bad News?
Author Robert Morgan in his book, "Promise" describes a story that I want to share with you. I will loosely take his story and tell it in my own words.
A wise old Chinese gentleman lived on the Mongolian border. One day his favorite white horse jumped the fence and was captured by the enemy. His friends came to comfort him by saying, "We are sorry about your horse. That is bad news." "How do you know it's bad news?" he asked. "It might be good news."
A week later the man looked out his window and saw his horse returning back to him and alongside her was a beautiful black stallion. He put both the horses in an enclosure and his friends came to admire the new addition. "What a beautiful horse. That is a good thing." they said. "How do you know its good news?" replied the man. "It might be bad news."
The next day, the man's only son decided to try ride the stallion. It threw him and he landed, breaking his leg. The friends made another visit saying, "We are so sorry about this. It's such bad news." "How do you know it's bad news?" replied the man. "It might be good news."
Within a month, a terrible war broke out between China and Mongolia. All perished, except for the man's son who could not go off to war because of his broken leg. "You see," said the Chinese gentleman. "The things you considered good were actually bad."
We cannot see into tomorrow. We do not know how things will turn out. Many times we experience a situation where we work hard to get out from, Yet, it is through that situation that everything works out for the BEST.
We are living in a historic economic time. You might be experiencing financial, emotional, spiritual or physical hardship. If you are, ask yourself, "How do you know it's bad news?" Hang on and anticipate that your challenging situation will change to work out better than you expected!
